A first look at the next Codes of Points

The All Around has had access to the first draft files of the 2013-2016 Codes of Points. In the coming days, TAA will summarize the major changes in the codes for the Olympic disciplines (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic, trampoline and tumbling).

Women’ Artistic Gymnastics

In the WAG Code of Points, the main differences are in the wording and description of beam and floor, making more important the artistry of both apparatus. Also, floor now has a proposal for up to 0.3 Connection Value, the only event with this possibility.

A new, interesting approach from the Women’s Technical Committee is that coaches are encouraged to submit new vaults and elements that have not yet been performed and/or do not yet appear in the Table of Elements. Additionally the WTC will consider new and original CVs which have not yet been performed.

It should be remembered that the following is from a draft proposal, and not all changes will necessarily make it through to the final CoP.

Vault is changing its calculations of the final score in Event Finals:
(DVT1 + DVT2)/2 + 10.00 – (VT1 ex deductions + VT2 ex deductions) = Final score
